Empire Realty

Opened: July 1
Location: Oka Commercial Building in Tamuning

Empire Realty is a real estate and property management company. It operates in a 1,344-square-foot office in Tamuning but owner Shivrani Daryanani said the business lines are always open.


Cube Teppan and Grill

Opened: Sept. 5
Location: Micronesia Mall Fiesta Court, between Subway and Tau Bay Pho
Owner: Anna Park
Hours: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily

Micronesia Mall patrons have more options with Japanese teppanyaki cuisine since the opening of Cube Teppan and Grill. The mall vendor serves a variety of meat and seafood as well as frozen treats called “snowflakes” which comes in six different flavors.


The Hive

Opened: Aug. 4
Location: Seven C’s Building in Tamuning
Founders and managing partners: Sammy M. Sotelo and Gary Sung
Hours: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily

The Hive is designed as a place where people — students, colleagues, businesspeople or creative minds — can collaborate together in a relaxed environment. The business is set in about 2,000 square feet of space divided among two floors, with other businesses including Chamorro Chip Café, Boston Pizza Co., Dolce Frutti Gelateria and Coffee Slut.


Infusion Coffee and Tea, Tamuning

Opened: Aug. 8
Location: Camacho Landmark Center in Tamuning
Owner: Richard Chan
Seating capacity: About 70
Hours: 6 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily

This Infusion marks the ninth location on Guam. Though this location offers a similar menu to the other Infusions, this outlet has a unique design, including high ceilings and wide windows for a bright view of Marine Corps Drive.


Olive Garden

Opened: Oct. 9
Location: First floor of Tumon Sands Plaza
Owner: Apple Pacific and Darden International
General manager: Paolo Dizon
Seating capacity: 160
Hours: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily

A long-requested restaurant among the local community, Olive Garden has finally made its way to Guam. The Italian-American family-style restaurant is one of several big name restaurants that will reside in Tumon Sands Plaza as the facility transitions from a luxury market to a family dining destination.


Kentucky Fried Chicken, Barrigada

Opened: Scheduled for end of October, early November
Location: Shell Gas Station in Barrigada
General manager: Frank Cruz
Number of employees: 30 – 40
Seating capacity: 50 – 60
Hours: 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday – Thursday, 6 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday

Kentucky Fried Chicken is calling Barrigada home to its eighth location, taking over the Shell Gas Station spot where Burger King used to be. The latest location is designed in similar fashion to other KFC outlets and has a drive-through setup behind the building.


McDonald’s, Yigo

Opened: Oct. 15
Location: Yigo, on the corner of Marine Corps Drive and Chalan Lujuna
Owners: Joe C. and Marcia E. Ayuyu
Number of employees: 65
Seating capacity: 52
Hours: 24/7

The new Yigo McDonald’s replaces the one that was attached to Mobil gas station. This location has the most recent technology built into its service, with double lanes for drive-through ordering.


Poke Seven

Opened: Scheduled for end of October
Location: Agana Shopping Center, in front of Pay-Less Supermarket
Owner: Hitomi Sako
Number of employees: 8, potentially
Seating capacity: None
Hours: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily

A sister of Onigiri Seven Japanese Food Stand in Tumon, Poke Seven will serve central residents with its special poke bowls and udon. Customers can call ahead to place their order and pick it up at the food stand.


Sling Stone Coffee and Tea Co.

Opened: Aug. 8
Location: Anigua, between Matson Navigation Co. and Mobil gas station
Owner: Peter and Hiroko Walls
Seating capacity: None, but offers drive-through service
Hours: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily

Sling Stone is a sister company of Island Girl Coffee and Quenchers, but where Island Girl offers a more fun approach to coffee, Sling Stone is catered to the coffee connoisseur, according to co-owner Peter Walls. The coffee stop is a formation of three shipping containers, a unique design style the owners observed in their travels.
