The Guam Visitors Bureau and Marianas Visitors Authority joined more than 130 countries from around the world at the JATA Tourism EXPO Japan 2017 from Sept. 21 to 24. The annual expo featured 2,130 participating vendors. An estimated 185,000 people attended the expo, themed “The Power of Travel.”
In addition to various Guam-focused presentations and promotions, GVB hosted the Hafa Adai Chamorro Dance Show featuring performances by local artists, and Guam’s booth featured footage of Guam viewed in virtual reality. Some 2,000 virtual reality goggles were distributed.
MVA’s booth featured the “Marianas 30 Treasures” display of images of renowned nature photographer Junji Takasago. Yasunori Iwamoto presented his new promotional video, “The Marianas,” and spoke about his experience producing and filming the video in the NMI. The booth also featured coconut oil making and crafting and performances by Miss Marianas 2016 Peachy Quitugua, Marianas-chan and Lily Pua.
