Students of Island Girl Power will be performing a revitalization of “Pulani,” written by Diane Aoki at the completion of its summer program on July 16, 17 and 18. “Pulani,” first produced in Guam in 1989, highlights the importance of perpetuating traditional culture and preserving the environment. The play tells the story of a young Chamorro girl who lives on the imaginary island of Islan Pulan. With the help of a troupe of magical creatures, the story’s heroine, Pulani, must travel to Guam in search of a student who will learn traditional knowledge of the suruhana.
