The New York Times has reported on the investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation into allegations of illegal employment practices by contractors hired by Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC, which does business as Best Sunshine. Imperial Pacific International operates Best Sunshine Live, a temporary casino in place until construction is completed on its hotel casino, Imperial Pacific.
The May 4 report on the publication’s websites outlines the FBI investigation and raid of a Chinese contractor in Saipan in March that was prompted by suspicions of the employment of illegal immigrants; points out that the chairman of Best Sunshine International, Mark A. Brown, is a “protégé” of President Donald J. Trump and former chief executive of Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts and that several other top executives also have dubious ties; and discusses labor issues in Saipan, including minimum wage and labor shortages.
