After a gap of five years, and numerous requests from our readers and potential honorees, Guam Business Magazine’s “40 under Forty” has returned!
This year we welcome some participants back but are also featuring a new crop of under forties from Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.
As with previous lists, this year’s group shows great diversity, persistence and have shared their own visions and plans for the future.
Mostly I try not to tell stories about the past. There are more than enough stories to tell about business life in the islands today.
But when I was 21 and back in England after living overseas for a couple of years, I accepted a position where I would stay for six and a half years. I was decades younger than my predecessor, and it is a miracle that I not only survived but thrived. I soaked up knowledge about politics, parties, people and more and learned lessons that still guide me today.
And of course, like those among our 40 featured here, I brought my own inspiration and ideas into play.
For that matter, I never stop absorbing new experiences and information. For all of us, the lessons we learned during COVID about crisis management and the determination and focus the pandemic required were testing times.
But life moves irrevocably forward, and I am already thinking of 2025.
Since the last list in September 2019, we’ve seen a number of participants who have appeared in lists past continue their careers as they graduated and aged up.
Whatever your age, if you have changed career path, launched a new business or have something to say on the current state of our islands, we want to hear from you. And feel free to update your headshot at any time. We keep a file of those too.
“Making moves,” in this magazine brings you a variety of career updates from around the islands, and shows how dynamic our business communities are.
This year’s “40 under Forty” participants stretch across all sectors of our business communities in Guam and the NMI. Some of them are contributing to the family business; others have “fallen far from the tree.” But all of them merit their place in a highly competitive age group. For those who did not make it this year, we will still continue to watch your development and progress.
Sincere thanks go to our informal panel of advisors, who sent recommendations for consideration, and helped us widen our net.
You’ll see that the “40 under Forty” has a variety of sponsors. We appreciate their support and engagement, and for helping us throw a party for those on the list and their guests.
And for all who have contributed to Glimpses Media this year, our thanks are equally sincere and we look forward to continuing those partnerships in 2025.
