Joseph Connelley has been named chairman of the board of directors of Pacific Human Resource Services Inc.
He is also co-owner of the Coconut Tree Co.
Connelley retired from the Guam Army National Guard in February 2023 after 23 years of service. His last assignment was at the Guard’s Joint Forces Headquarters within the Personnel Management Directorate as chief of the Health Services and Support Branch.
Connelley holds a 1993 bachelor’s in secondary education and teaching from Seattle University in Seattle, Wash. and taught through the Guam Department of Education from 1993 to 2004.
He is a lifetime member of the National Guard Association of the United States and an alumnus of the Wounded Warrior Project.
Community First Guam Federal Credit Union announced the appointment of Steven Velasquez. as senior vice president and chief financial officer.
Velasquez joined Community First from Los Angeles in April as a temporary consultant for the Accounting Department.
Velasquez has more than 20 years of accounting, consultation, and auditing experience in the credit union industry.
Mark B.C Mendiola, has been named acting chief of staff
to the president of the University of Guam. He was previously director of the Residence Halls at UOG, and formerly special assistant for interagency support at the Guam Economic Development Authority.
Mendiola served as executive director of the UOG Endowment Foundation from 2010 to 2023 and is a former district executive of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mendiola holds a 2001 bachelors of arts in health, physical education and dance, with a concentration in exercise science, and a 2022 master’s in public administration, both from UOG. He is also an accredited investment fiduciary, and previously served on the Guam Board of Education.
Guam Regional Medical City has announced the opening of its urology clinic which will be led by Dr. Ann S. Fenton and Dr. Virgilio G. Petero Jr., both previously with the Guam Urology Clinic.
Fenton holds a medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine in Louisiana and completed residency in Texas at the Wilford Hall Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center, and the University of Texas Health Science Center. She is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She has more than 25 years of experience in medicine.
Petero holds a medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay
Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City and completed his residency at the University of Santo Thomas in Manila. He later completed kidney transplant training at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Petero is certified by the Philippine Board of Urology and the America Society of Transplant Surgeons. He has more than 20 years of experience as a urologist.
Docomo Pacific announced the following appointments:
Connie Cruz as vice president of Customer Service Operations.
She formerly was the director of Enterprise Operations. Cruz joined the company in 1997 at Guam Cellular & Paging, where she started as a customer representative and quickly advanced to the role of supervisor. After Docomo Pacific acquired Guam Cellular & Paging in 2006, Cruz transitioned with the company. In 2010, Cruz moved to the enterprise side as retail manager for Business Services. In 2013, she took on the role of Retail Operations manager.
Cruz became manager for the Call Center operations manager role in 2017. In 2020, she returned to the enterprise business as manager for Enterprise Sales Operations and became the liaison for FirstNet before being promoted to director of Enterprise Operations in 2023.
Michelle Chaco is promoted to senior enterprise sales manager.
She started as an advertising account executive at MCV in 2006 and transitioned to hotel sales manager in 2007. Chaco was appointed sales manager for Enterprise Sales in 2017.
She is actively involved in the local business community, contributing to organizations such as the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association, the Guam Chamber of Commerce Armed Forces Committee of the Guam Chamber, the Rotary Club of Tumon Bay, and the Guam Contractors Association.
Jason Paredes as chief financial officer.
He joined Docomo Pacific in February 2017 as director of finance. He was promoted to vice president of finance in July 2020.
Before joining Docomo, Paredes worked in auditing and financial analysis. He served as global controller/director at Branded Entertainment Network, a Seattle-based company, from 2010 to 2017. Prior to that, he served in public auditing in the Philippines, Indonesia, and the U.S. for 11 years as audit manager at Ernst & Young LLP in Seattle, Wash.
Paredes holds a bachelor’s of science in accounting from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. He is a certified public accountant in the United States (Washington and Guam) and the Philippines.
Michael Smith as executive vice president of Network Operations at Docomo Pacific.
Before joining Docomo Pacific, Smith held senior positions at Tilson Technologies, Baseband Telecom, Bandwidth Options, and several other companies.
He has more than 33 years of experience in the telecom industry, with expertise in Telecom Carrier Executive Operations, Broadband System Network Design, Engineering and Operations, and Fixed Mobile Convergence.
Smith holds various licenses and certifications and has completed executive leadership training, including the Myers-Briggs MBTI Leader Development Training.
Davina Alvarez is the new vice president of Finance Operations at Docomo Pacific.
Alvarez joined Docomo Pacific in 2014 as the Procurement Manager. She was promoted to director of Procurement and Contracts, where she managed procurement, contracts, and the mobile inventory warehouse. By 2020, her role had expanded to include oversight of the fixed warehouse, earning her the position as director of Contracts and Supply Chain Management.
Before joining Docomo Pacific, Alvarez built a solid foundation in contracts and procurement at DZSP21, LLC, where she served as a Contracts Specialist from 2009 to 2010 and later as a Procurement Manager until 2014.
Alvarez holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix and an MBA from the University of Maryland. As vice president of Finance Operations she oversees procurement, contracts, mobile and fixed inventory, compliance, and legal operations.
Ron Brewster is the new vice president of Docomo Pacific’s Network Operations. He joined the company in 2009 where he excelled in various marketing positions, including Customer Base Manager, Business Development Officer, and Director of Marketing, a role he held until January 2020. In January 2020, he transitioned to the technology department. His expertise and strategic vision in marketing translated seamlessly to his new role as Program Manager. He assumed the role of director of Field Operations position in June 2022.
In his new role as vice president, Brewster oversees all aspects of Fixed network operations, ensuring reliable customer services and enhancing field operations efficiency and performance.
Emi Tenorio is the new director of Information Technology at Docomo Pacific. Tenorio joined Docomo Pacific in 2008 as a project coordinator. From 2011 to 2017, she served as a strategic planner, system designer, and system analyst supervisor. In January 2017, Tenorio was appointed as the IS Billing Manager, a position she held until April 2024. During this time, she oversaw and optimized the company’s billing systems, ensuring efficiency and accuracy when serving our customers.
In her new position, Tenorio will focus on advancing the company’s technological capabilities and ensuring a secure IT infrastructure. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Japanese studies from the University of Guam and has earned several certifications, including ITIL Foundation in IT Service Management, Agile Scrum Master, and Enterprise Architecture in Business/Software Modeling.
Ben Laguana is the new senior director of Converged Network at Docomo Pacific. His extensive career in technology began in 1995 with MCV/Kuentos, where he served as a Systems Administrator until 2004. In 2006, his journey continued with Guam Cable Vision, LLC, where he was a Systems Administrator until May 2013. He assisted with the transition when Docomo Pacific acquired Guam Cable Vision in 2013, leading to his seamless transition to Internet Services manager where he served until January 2022 when he was promoted to Director of IT.
In his new position, Laguana oversees the integration and management of Internet Operations, VTP, and Transport departments.
Ashley Artero MSN, APRN, FNP-C is now a Certified Advance Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner. FHP Health Center congratulates Artero, saying the Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner certification is a professional credential for nurse practitioners who specialize in oncology care. Administered by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, this certification endorses a nurse practitioner’s expertise in providing advanced care to cancer patients, including assessment, diagnosis,
treatment, and management of cancer and its treatments. This certification validates Artero’s commitment to enhancing her knowledge and skills on oncology practice thereby providing quality care and improving patient outcomes.
