“For a small community, Guam has a good variety of both grocery and general merchandise retail stores. Pricing on a number of commodities may seem a bit stiff for many — but understandably, as retailers that operate in the Marianas naturally encounter logistics challenges and high shipping costs.
By the looks of it, however, Guam’s population and demand may be substantial due to ever-growing number of franchise outlets and specialty concept stores that we see opening throughout all major malls and main shopping districts.
With respect to customer service, there are areas of opportunity, but what company doesn’t? In general, I find value in most products sold on Guam and am pretty satisfied with the services extended to me.”

“My thought is that prices here on Guam are reasonable — except for fuel — versus the mainland, Tokyo and Seoul. I feel the local fruit and vegetables are good and priced reasonably. My computer tech support is good. Given the [remoteness] of Guam, there is enough variety for me.”

“Over all our island retail stores have everything one needs to live a comfortable lifestyle. But those customers who are looking to find items that would make them look different than everyone else, they are shopping on the internet. My children do this all the time, especially when it comes to fashion. It comes down to better selection and even better prices that will drive the customers to shop online. I just bought a mini carpet-cleaning machine because it was not available anywhere on island and the price was right. It arrived on my doorstep in less than one week.”

“The island’s retail offering overall meets my needs. Anything not available can be ordered online.
Crafting supplies are always a struggle for me, but being a Stampin’Up! demonstrator, I am able to fulfill my needs and the needs of my clients by offering my stocks first and replenishing later.
Last March, Macy’s had a once a year Michael Kors shoe sale at the Micronesia Mall and online. They ran out of my size on the style that I wanted, and the saleslady was kind enough to ask if I wanted her to order it online for me. Of course, I said, ‘Yes.’ My credit card was charged and I got the shoes one week later.”
