Historian produces documentary on Guam race riot

In the spring of 2018, PBS Guam will air The Agana Race Riot, a one-hour documentary written and produced by Carla Smith depicting the events of a race riot between white and African American servicemen in Hagåtña in 1944. Smith holds a master’s in Micronesian Studies from the University of Guam and teaches history at Guam Community College and the Department of Defense schools. She served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years before retiring to Guam in 2010.
