“Children of the Green Jungle” by Deanna Quitigua, an Ohio-born Guam resident and former special education teacher married to the late Joseph Quitugua, was released in June by the Gerard Aflague Collection. The work is a 32-page story for children about Chamorro history and the challenges and changes that indigenous ancestors have experienced under foreign rule for half-a-century by the Spanish, the Japanese and the U.S. governments. It is also meant to encourage readers to assess the value and importance of their Pacific Islander heritage. The book is available on GerardAflagueCollection.com, ebay, Amazon and at select bookstores on Guam.
