TakeCare Insurance Company Inc. announces Deborah Fischer as account executive. Fischer joined the company in September and has an extensive background in e-commerce and business sales including negotiating and selling to Fortune 100 IT companies. She obtained her bachelor’s from North Dakota State University.

Miira McClure also joined TakeCare as an account executive in November. McClure was formerly a senior marketing representative for Applied Underwriters in San Francisco. She obtained a master’s in counseling and bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Texas. McClure’s career includes a tenure as an agent at Allstate and Sears Life Insurance Co.

Greg Kerrebrock joined TakeCare as an account executive II in October. His 22 years of sales experience includes positions in health, life and workers compensation insurance for companies like FHP Inc. in which he served as director of sales and Humana Health Care Plans where he was ranked in the national top 10 for sales achievement.

Mary Michelle “Shelly” Gibson is announced as the new business development and marketing director for TAT Petroleum Guam Inc., a joint venture with Cosmos Distributing Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Tan Holdings. In addition to her position, Gibson is also responsible for special projects and military business development. Gibson was previously the director of group sales, marketing, special events and promotions for Tango Theaters. Her certifications include an Occupational Safety and Health Administration Compliance Manager Certificate, HR Specialist and Professional Certificate and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Compliance Officer Certificate.

The Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association held its 2010 board of directors election during its 4th Quarter General Membership meeting at the Guam Marriott Resort & Spa on Nov. 19. Elected to serve two year terms representing the Hotelier Chapter was Jeffrey Schweizer, general manager of the Fiesta Resort Guam and Toshi Doi, general manager of the Westin Resort Guam. Brian K. Artero, president of Pacific Dining LLC, doing business as Lonestar Steakhouse, Chili’s Grill & Bar and Chili’s Too and Kazunari Endo, president and owner of House of Brutus were both elected to serve representing the Restaurateur Chapter. Artero is to serve a two year term and Endo will serve one. Elected to serve a two-year term representing the Allied Industry Chapter was James Herbert, general manager of Triple J Five Star Wholesale Foods Inc.

Holdover directors for the 2010 term include Bartley A. Jackson, general manager of the Pacific Islands Club; Charlene Goo, vice president of operations, Pacific Region of Outrigger Guam Resort; Sophia Chu Wigsten, sales and marketing director of the Hyatt Regency Guam and Craig R. Thompson, chief executive officer of MCV Broadband.

First Hawaiian Bank announced on Dec. 1 the following realignment to its senior management team. Robert Harrison, president and chief operating officer will now be in charge of consumer banking, marketing, risk management and trust. Harrison joined the bank in 1996. He holds a bachelor’s in applied mathematics from the University of California Los Angeles and a master’s in business administration from Cornell University.

Raymond Ono is vice chairman and chief banking officer responsible for branches, retail and business banking and wealth management. He joined FHB in 1978 and obtained a bachelor’s and master’s from Willamette University in Salem, Ore. He is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School.

Robert Fujioka is vice chairman and chief lending officer, responsible for corporate banking, commercial real estate and leasing. He has more than 35 years of banking experience and joined FHB in 1996. Fujioka has a bachelor’s from the University of Michigan and a master’s from the University of Hawaii.

Albert Yamada is vice chairman, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer overseeing finance, human resources, legal, compliance and investments. He is a certified public account and joined FHB in 1988. He obtained a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Hawaii.

Gary Caulfield is vice chairman and chief information officer responsible for technology, data management, operations and research. He joined the bank in 1983 and has a bachelor’s from the University of Hawaii and is a graduate of the School for Bank Administration in Madison, Wis.

The bank has also announced the year-end retirement of senior officers Anthony Guerrero, retail banking group; Edward Pei, consumer banking group; Mark Felmet, consumer lending group and Edmund Kajiyama, branch support division.

A study issued on Oct. 13 by HealthGrades Inc. determined that the Good Samaritan Hospital is among the top 5% nationally for treatment of stroke and the top 10% for joint replacement. Approximately 5,000 nonfederal hospitals were all included in the study, which examined mortality rates and complication rates from government data from 2006-2008.

The hospital also received top quality performance acknowledgement in numerous categories including five star ratings in treatment of heart failure, stroke and respiratory failure. Earlier this year the hospital was a recipient of the maternity care excellence award and ranked among the top 5% of hospitals for maternity care in the Sixth Annual HealthGrades Women’s Health in American Hospitals study released in June.

Taling M. Taitano is appointed deputy superintendent of finance and administration for the Department of Education. Taitano is a certified public accountant with 15 years experience in accounting, management and consulting in both private and public sectors. In a previous capacity, Taitano held positions as economic planning analyst, vice president and chief financial officer, and executive director as a partner in Deloitte & Touche.

Charles B. White is announced as chief deputy clerk of the District Court of Guam. Prior to his appointment, White served as the court’s information systems manager for the last 18 years. He obtained his bachelor’s in system science and engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. and master’s in computer science from Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo.

Northern Marianas College appoints Adnan Raza as academic librarian for the Olympio T. Borja Memorial Library. Raza obtained a juris doctor from the Northeastern University School of Law in Boston and master’s of library and information science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He joined the NMC in November.

He was previously the director of the Learning Resource Center at IIA College in Albuquerque, N.M. specializing in reference assistance. Raza has also designed and taught workshops in database searching and information technology literacy and is a member of the American Library Association and Association of College and Research Libraries.
