2007 Guam Business Executive of the Year Gala
January 12, 2008
The 2007 Guam Business Executive of the Year Gala was the 25th such event, celebrating both the Silver Anniversary of the program and falling in the 25th Anniversary Year of Guam Business. The Executive of the Year gala raises funds for the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Each year, Guam Business confers the Executive of the Year award on a member of the community who has displayed consistent excellence in his or her professional life. The Executive of the Year is a person noted for success and reputation in the business community, personal business creativity and entrepreneurship, leadership ability, business expansion, and community involvement. If you know someone in Micronesia who merits this recognition, please contact Maureen Maratita at publisher@glimpsesofguam.com for more information.
2008 First Hawaiian Bank Guam Business Businesswoman of the Year Gala
April 26, 2008
In 2006, First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business joined forces to launch the Annual Businesswoman of the Year Maga’haga Award Program, a cooperative effort to provide recognition to businesswomen who have made a difference and raised the bar in the field in which they are involved.
The Maga’haga [Chamorro term for princess] Award is given to the Businesswoman of the Year at the gala event, in conjunction with the release of the Guam Business, featuring a commissioned photo study of the recipient on its cover.
For the past two years, proceeds from the gala have funded scholarship programs at the University of Guam. Six recipients have received scholarship awards to date. In an effort to provide more students with scholarship opportunities, this year the Businesswoman of the Year committee has decided to award scholarship funding to two additional higher education organizations. Proceeds from the 2008 First Hawaiian Bank Guam Business Businesswomen of the Year gala will fund scholarship programs at the University of Guam, Guam Community College and the Northern Marianas College.
